Brewers reportedly make offer to free-agent ace Yu Darvish
Darvish was acquired by the Dodgers from Texas for three prospects just before last year’s trade deadline, supposedly the final piece needed to return a championship to baseball’s biggest-spending team.
But the 6-foot-5 right-hander only managed four outs in losing Game 7 to the Astros, becoming the second pitcher in World Series history with less than two innings pitched in two starts.
Darvish signed with Texas before the 2012 season and missed all of 2015 after elbow surgery. In 31 combined starts last season, he was 10-12 with a 3.86 ERA.
Wall fired the first shot when asked about the barking between the two, which resulted in Barea being whistled for a technical foul with 7:42 remaining in the game.
Just a little midget trying to get mad, Wall said. I don’t pay him no mind.
Barea, a 12-year veteran who is very generously listed at 6 feet, raised his eyebrows when Wall’s comment was relayed to him. Barea said Wall’s comment was funny before firing back.
Now I have somebody in the NBA that I don’t like, Barea said. That’s my first. I don’t like him at all now. But I don’t think his teammates like him, either. So it’s nothing new for him.
Duensing, a 34-year-old left-hander, went 1-1 with a 2.74 ERA in 68 relief outings for the Cubs last season. He pitched his first seven seasons for Minnesota and spent much of the 2016 season in the minors before earning a late-season promotion to Baltimore. He then joined the Cubs after their 2016 World Series title.
For his career, Duensing is 43-38 with a 4.01 ERA in 436 appearances, 375 of which have come in relief.
Duensing was drafted in the third round by Minnesota in 2005 and made his major league debut in 2009.
